Enrollment Growth & Marketing

  • Identify two or three keys qualities of Weston Public Schools that set the district apart from all other neighboring districts and market these characteristics, such as:
    • Our campus is the "heart and hub" of the community, with all four schools located along a beautiful one-mile stretch of road, where families make lifelong connections through the educational, cultural, and recreational activities that bring them together.
    • Our families have the convenience of dropping and picking up their children in one location.
    • Weston Public School teachers and administrors know each student well in order to teach each student well. Our class sizes are among the smallest in Fairfield County.
  • Market characteristics like these to potential home buyers continuously in all means of communicating our message to the broader community.
  • Develop an aggressive marketing campaign to attract families to the Weston Public Schools, targeting those families with children entering kindergarten and first grade.
  • Re-examine class size guidelines at the kindergarten and first grade levels.  Consider developing a plan to lower class sizes to distinguish ourselves from area schools. Reduce paraprofessional support in these classes with reduced class sizes.
  • Consider assigning responsibilities for recruitment and retention efforts to attract families and raise enrollment.
  • Consider developing and implementing an all-inclusive Town of Weston marketing campaign.  Superintendent will work with the Board's Communications Committee and the town to coordinate marketing efforts.
  • Create a student marketing team to promote the school district.  Engage students with opportunities to develop and implement ideas to market the school district and gain valuable marketing experience in the process.
  • Develop an elevator speech for front line staff to use when greeting prospective new families to highlight what sets Weston apart from other districts.
