Effective Communication

  • With input from a variety of stakeholders, develop a list of goals and comprehensive action plan for upgrading the current website.  Goals may include, but not limited to, incorporating aesthetic upgrades, new marketing strategies, and effective communication strategies.  The Board will be presented with a plan consisting of timelines, upgrade costs, and professional development for teachers.
  • There should also be an evaluation of cost-effective platforms to support teacher web pages in determining next steps.
  • Leverage technology within our district and beyond to communicate, interact, and engage with students, parents, and our school community.  Efforts to leverage social media "in the moment" will enhance our ability to communicate more efficiently and regularly with stakeholder groups.
  • Everything we do involves effective communication whether it is relation to district initiatives, budget, marketing the district, or crisis response.  We currently do not have expertise in the district for strategic communication.  Consider having communications expertise available to the district by contracting with someone in public relations.
  • Provide increased opportunities for the Board of Education and community to receive presentations and ask questions on important instructional initatives.
  • Continue to strengthen our positive relationship with the Weston Police Department as a school resource officer begins working at Weston High School.  Collaboration with the Weston Police Department is critical as we review and refine our school security and crisis plan.
